The Story
The season of Fall is fleeting—every year, it feels like I blink, and it’s gone. This time, I wanted to savor it with my family by simply spending unhurried moments outside together.
These paintings reflect the beauty and peace of those moments, from September’s cool blue skies to November’s warm-toned mosaics of fallen leaves. Over the past year, I’ve slowed down, focusing on being present with my family and in my art. Instead of building large series back-to-back, I poured intention into one painting at a time. This shift taught me that slowing down can bring profound growth, both creatively and personally.
Heading into fall, I felt ready to create multiple works again, but with a deeper awareness of balance. Whenever I felt rushed or overextended, I saw it as a reminder to step outside, slow down, and be present with my family. These moments, which often comprised of simply “doing nothing”, became the heart of this series—a reflection of time well-spent in nature, inspired by the memories we collected along the way.
When September hits there's a shift in the air. Past fall seasons I've been too busy to enjoy the season and this painting felt like a call to set (and constantly reset) my gaze on what matters most.
There's a whole world of beauty just waiting for those who will take a chance to explore. This piece is inspired by my son's bravery and love for the wild that ignites my own childlike curiousity.
For those who love to adventure together: campfires have a long history of bringing people together to eat, stay warm, and share conversation. The warmth of a campfire isn't just physical to me; it's filled with the nostalgia of every fire I've gathered around before.
Inspired by my love for meandering forest paths with no agenda but curiousity, this painting reflects the feeling of time slowing down whenever I visit the woods. I hope it serves as a gentle reminder to take your time as you journey through life.
