Where the journey begins...

January 2025

There are moments in life when everything suddenly clicks. Like reaching the summit of a mountain and, after an uphill battle, seeing the world stretch out before you, as far as the eye can see. These mountain-top perspectives don’t come often, but when they do, they become the anchors we cling to, guiding us as we descend to the winding paths below.

Right now, my life feels like one of those moments. A season where I’ve gained clarity on the future I want to build. I want my paintings to capture that expansive perspective, to serve as reminders of the life we want to build, especially during times when the path ahead isn’t clear.

Inspired by the landscapes surrounding Merritt, BC.

The Process

In early January 2025, we drove our family into a small town in British Columbia's interior called Merritt. At higher elevations, the landscapes are rugged, cold, and breathtaking. I painted outside until the water on the canvas froze while the boys enjoyed sledding and afterwards we warmed ourselves by the campfire. It was a breath of (very cold) fresh air to get away from the city and dream up a clear vision for the year ahead.
